Futuristic New Odyssey Minivan to be Shown at Chicago Auto Show; May be the “Cool” Minivan Miami Has Been Waiting For

January 27, 2010 4 comments

During the latter half of last year, Honda amazed auto lovers everywhere when it showed off its newest concept vehicle at auto shows worldwide-the Honda Skydeck concept minivan- which was a futuristic, (and aside from the scissored front doors and all-glass roof) yet highly feasible vision of the near future’s minivan. Many auto pundits speculated that while some elements of the Skydeck would never see a production line, Honda’s auto designers would probably draw a lot of inspiration for the next-generation Odyssey minivan from Skydeck, especially since Odyssey is overdue for a design overhaul, since it hasn’t changed much looks-wise since the ’05 model.

Fast-forward to the present-day- Honda has just announced that it will be revealing a new concept Odyssey minivan at February’s Chicago Auto Show. While Honda prefers to keep auto lovers speculating during the buildup to an unveiling, we (and about everyone else who has written on this subject) believe the Skydeck concept was a huge indication of what to expect from the forthcoming Odyssey concept. However, only time will tell the truth, and we’ll have more information for you on the new Odyssey concept sometime between February 12 and 21 (the dates of the autoshow), so stay tuned.

For pictures of the Honda Skydeck, see below, or read our articles on the unveiling of Skydeck here.

In a move that is sure to make many Miami Honda owners even more proud to drive a Honda, Honda of North America has announced the donation of portable generators, water pumps, and other Honda products to the Red Cross‘ Haitian relief effort, in addition to more than $300,000 cash. In addition to the initial $300,000 cash that has been given to the Haitian relief effort, several of Honda’s subsidiaries have commenced matching gift campaigns, with all funds designated to the Red Cross for Haiti. Honda has worked with the Red Cross for several years, and is currently working closely with the Red Cross to determine exactly what is needed in Haiti.

This is just another example of why Honda owners are not only proud because they’re driving some of the longest-lasting, most environmentally friendly automobiles on the road, but also because they also know that their hard-earned cash has gone towards building communities and improving the lives of others. We have a theory here: international commercials always are either (a) a whole lot cooler or (b) pretty strange  when compared to the ones stateside. So people of Miami: we present the international Honda commercial of the week, this time courtesy of Honda of Australia. This one should definitely be filed under the “cool” category.

Honda is most popular sport utility vehicle in Miami

January 14, 2010 1 comment

Honda has been known for decades as one of the top automakers in the U.S and the world. Qualities that make up a Honda vehicle are durability, reliability and fuel-efficient. The Japanese-based automaker is also known as one of the most popular sport utility vehicles in the U.S. The 2010 Pilot is one of Honda’s most popular sport utility vehicles on the market. The sizable Honda Pilot beat out the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander in calendar 2009 to take second spot in U.S. sales of SUVs with three rows of seats.

The Pilot also garnered top, 5-out-of-5 stars ratings from the federal government for passenger protection in frontal and side crash tests, and it’s a recommended buy of Consumer Reports. While the Traverse also is a Consumer Report recommended buy and has top safety crash test ratings, its starting retail price is higher than that of the 2010 Pilot. Miami Dealerships are offering the 2010 Honda Pilot for $349/month with $2,699 due at signing.

Make sure to visit your local Miami dealership to test drive the 2010 Honda Pilot and see if it’s the SUV for you. If not, make sure to test drive the Honda CR-V or Ridgline which are other top sport utility vehicles for the automaker.

Honda Makes Cleaner Engines for the Future

January 13, 2010 Leave a comment

Honda redesigns its CR-V model by giving it more fuel-efficient qualities such as a cleaner engine. The redesign of the 2010 model is linked with the 2.2 I DTEC diesel motor with an automatic transmission for the first time. The latest CR-V was restyled with a new bumper, modified grille, and ten-spoke ally wheels. The Executive version of the vehicle has the bumper and wheel arches painted in the vehicle color.

The 2.2 i-DTEC in the manual version has an output of 110 kW/150 hp with a fuel consumption listed at 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers which translates to a carbon dioxide emission figure of 171 grams per kilometer. Optionally the vehicle is available also with an automatic transmission. The 2.0-VTEC petrol-engine version has the same output with a consumption of 8.2 liters per 100 kilometers and a carbon dioxide emission of 190 g/km.

Visit your local Miami Honda dealership and test drive the new 2010 Honda CR-V. If an SUV isn’t for you, then test-drive another one of Honda’s renown vehicles.
